Changes to the Child Dental Benefit Scheme!

Happy New Year to you, your friends and family from Australia Dental Burpengary! As we walk into our third year since opening, it is my pleasure to announce a few things happening in 2017.

 On 15^thof December 2016, changes to the benefits cap entitlement for Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) had been announced by the Minister for Health. Unfortunately, there has been a decrease in benefit cap from up to $1,000 to up to $700 for all children commencing a new cap in 2017. The cut in funding, as a mean to redistribute tax allocation, not only impacts the financial affordability of families in need, but also impacts our children’s right to receive regular oral health care. This move is a correspondence to the government’s original plan to end funding for the CDBS which started the Australian Dental Association’s #savetheCDBS initiative in early April 2016. Although the CDBS is retained for now, critical damage to children’s oral health by the cut is done both short and long term.
