Joseph grew up on the beautiful Gold Coast where he received his Bachelor of Dental Health science and Master of Dentistry at Griffith University. He received the Sir Samuel Griffith scholarship, was a member of the Griffith Honours College and was awarded the Griffith award for academic excellence in all years of study.
During his studies and clinical placements in rural north Queensland, Joseph developed a strong passion for delivering conservative, pain-free treatment. He has a calm, gentle approach to dentistry and emphasises the role of patient education and motivation in successful treatment.
Joseph loves reading about the latest scientific developments in the dental world and believes in the importance of on-going postgraduate education to provide patients with the most up-to-date standards of care. Out of work, Joseph enjoys reading, cooking and exploring the city for the best cafes or restaurants.

Thank you for your trust and choosing me to be your dentist. I am sure you would like to know a little bit about me. I completed Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2006 from Kathmandu, Nepal. After a few years of private dental practice, I went to do PhD in pain Neuroscience from Germany and continued further research in the USA for 3.5 years. In 2016, I came to Australia to join the University of Queensland, and later in Melbourne and Monash University. I love to treat dental pain. My areas of interest include dental pain management, root canal treatment, and aesthetics restorations including crowns, bridge and veneers. I update myself with professional development courses regularly. I have published numerous original research articles in world renowned international journals. Australia Dental Burpengary welcomes our newest member Dr Sam Chan.
Dr Sam was born in Taiwan and raised in New Zealand before moving to Brisbane for studies. He graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours from the University of Queensland in 2015.
After spending 2 years practising in rural Queensland he has returned and settled back into Brisbane. Sam has recently joined the Burpengary team and has a keen interest in oral surgery and preventative dentistry.
Sam also excels in treating anxious patients and giving painless injections. Sam regularly attends Continuing Professional Development courses and workshops to further his learning. Sam is a lover of exotic teas and a classical music enthusiast. In his spare time, he enjoys playing and recording piano pieces.
Nickname: Michel
Dr Michel was born and raised in Canada. He graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Otago, New Zealand before immigrating permanently to Australia in 1989.
Dr Michel graduated with awards in Periodontology and Restorative dentistry and now exclusively practices aesthetic, reconstructive and orthodontic dentistry.
