How to Love your Teeth-For Dental Health Week

Here at ADB we love teeth so much

we want to share as much information about how to look after your teeth,

with our patients & the community.

Did you know that everything we drink & eat, has a major after effect on your Teeth and gum health?

Unfortunately tooth decay is a diet related disease, and can develop in response to our consumption of sugars. There is bacteria on the surfaces of our teeth.
When our teeth bacteria processes the sugar, it then turns into acid.

The acid then draws out all of the good minerals from your tooth.

Here are some great tips on how

you can love your teeth:

  •  Drinking Water every day
  • Brush & floss twice a day
  • It is recommended that you see your ADB dentist at least every 6 months
  • Avoid drinks with sugar eg. soft drinks
  • Limit your intake of coffee

According to the ADA (Australian Dental Association) data sourced has identified that:

  •  77% of Adults rarely or never floss. Flossing is  a fundamental part of sustaining good oral health.
  • only 13%  of Adults have visited the dentist in the past 12 months,
  • 26% of Adults  haven’t been to a dentist in over 5 years
  •  66% of Adults were unaware that poor oral health can impact medical conditions.
  • 41% parents said a child’s first dental visit should be at 2 years of age,

with only 25% of Parents aware that a child’s first visit can be at 1 years of age, or sooner if their first tooth erupts prior to their first birthday.

If you are worried that you will forget to see your dentist

Or are unsure about your child’s dental check up, the ADB team will help you.
